Panathinaikos president Manos Papadopoulos said that the club will leave the Greek League if Olympiacos stays in the First Division with a way reminiscent of a coup.

“If Olympiacos stays in First Division with any putschist move, no matter where it comes from, then Panathinaikos won’t be there (First Division),” Papadopoulos said during Tuesday’s (4/6) Greek League board meeting.

According to the League rules, Olympiacos has been relegated to the Second Division following the club’s decision to forfeit Game 1 of the quarterfinals against Panathinaikos due to the fact that the game was officiated by Greek referees. The Reds had stated that they won’t play any game vs. their archrival unless refereed by non-Greek officials.
