Former EuroLeague champion Sofoklis Schortsanitis has agreed to terms with Greek League returnee Ionikos Nikaias. The veteran center will be assessed by the team and if his physical condition is found to be satisfactory, he will sign a contract.

Schortsanitis last played a game in January 2018, when he briefly joined Greek League club Trikala. Before that, the veteran center had been out of action following a season-ending Achilles tendon rupture he sustained in December 2016 during his stint with Apollon Patras.

This past year, Schortsanitis has been training individually, losing a lot of weight in the process.

Throughout his career, Schortsanitis has played for such teams as Olympiacos, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Panathinaikos and Crvena Zvezda. He won the 2014 EuroLeague title with Maccabi.
