VITORIA — Real Madrid suffered defeat from CSKA Moscow and wasn’t able to repeat their 2018 success in the Final Four championship game. Trey Thompkins talks to Eurohoops TV about the third-place game and how he is not a fan of it.

“If EuroLeague feels it’s necessary, then we got to go out and play. I’m particularly a fan of it, but it’s not my choice. The third-place game doesn’t give you much gratitude and satisfaction. We’ve got a tough rest of the season ahead of us and we’d like to get back home and start getting prepared. You don’t come here [to the Final Four] to win for the third place” Thompkins tells Eurohoops.

There is an ongoing discussion for the third-place game, with Fabien Causeur and Rudy Fernandez speaking up, opposing to it. At the same time, ELPA Managing Director Bostjan Nachbar made a comment in which he mentioned that the issue will be addressed so a player-friendly solution can be reached.
