Last season, 7bet Lietkabelis eliminated Zalgiris Kaunas in the Betsafe LKL semifinals, and this time around, the most decorated Lithuanian team missed the chance to complete the payback, as Panevezys team survived in do-or-die semifinals Game 3 at Zalgirio Arena, 66-67.
Zalgiris had the chance to win the game but couldn’t even make the shot in the last seconds after a confusing attack, Lietkabelis stole the ball, and time ran out.
Mantas Rubstavicius led the winning side with 14 points, while Vytenis Lipkevicius and Gabrielius Maldunas added nine points each.
The hosts had three players in double figures, Edgaras Ulanovas had 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists; Tyler Cavanaugh scored 12 points, and Isaiah Taylor added 10 points with five assists.
Game 4 in Panevezys is scheduled for Sunday (28/05) at 16.00 CET at Kalnapilis Arena.
Defending champions Rytas Vilnius already booked a place in the final after beating Cbet Jonava 3-0 in the semifinal series.
