Game 4 of the BBL finals was the last needed in order for a champion to be crowned. Bayern Munich got the 75-62 win (3-1) on the road over Alba Berlin and finished a great season, during which it started building a name not only as a football, but also as a basketball powerhouse.
Deon Thompson with 18 points and Bryce Taylor with 16 points were the leaders of Bayern in the game that decided the championship title. It was a very close contest for three quarters, but Bayern proved its dominance in the last period with a 22-14 partial score. Former Alba Berlin player Heiko Schaffartzik added 12 points, while Leon Radosevic had 21 points for the hosts.
With this win, Bayern Munich also booked a place in next season’s Euroleague, after a solid first appearance in the European top league via a wild card this year. Τhis is the third basketball championship title of Bayern and the first since 1955.
