Unics Kazan, the favorite of Euroleague’s qualifying round, flirted with disaster, but got the 90-86 win over Zielona Gora. Despite cutting the lead of the Russians to one point three times in the closing seconds thanks to Steve Burtt, the Polish team couldn’t complete a big upset.
The game started with a 23-13 first quarter and the Russians had a double digits lead until the end of the third quarter. The former EA7 Milano duo, Keith Langford and Curtis Jerrells, had 12 and 15 points respectively in the first half and finished the game with 22 points each. Burtt had 30 points for Zielona Gora. Ιn the semifinal, Unics will face Hapoel Jerusalem.
