Maccabi Tel Aviv finished the regular season on a high note, as the defending champions got the home win over Unicaja (81-73) with Devin Smith having one of the best games of his Euroleague career with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
Both teams had already qualified to Top16, however Maccabi needed that moral boost against a team which currently holds the top spot in Spanish Liga Endesa. After the first 22 minutes, the hosts never lost the lead and when Unicaja cut the lead to two (66-64) with five minutes left, Maccabi reacted with a 11-3 run (77-67) which included two three pointers by Smith. The Spaniards after a good start in the season, need to regroup and be better in Top16.
