Olimpia Milano won the 2020 Italian Supercup after beating Virtus Bologna 75 – 68 in the final. This is the fourth Supercup trophy for the “Red Shoes” after 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Gigi Datome scored a game-high 17 points for Milano, including five key points in a row. With the score 64 – 60 and four minutes to play, Datome drained the triple and then had another bucket to put his team up 69 – 60.

Amar Alibegovic (13 points, eight rebounds) brought Bologna closer, 69 – 65 and then Sergio Rodriguez buried the dagger with a 3-pointer for the 72 – 65 with 70 seconds remaining. On the other end, Milos Teodosic (6 points on 2/12 shots, plus eight assists) missed in a 3-point attempt and Rodriguez sealed the win of his team with three free throws.

Datome also had eight rebounds to register a team-high 19 in PIR. Kevin Punter dropped 14 points and scored a couple of key baskets at the beginning of the fourth period, at a moment when Milano’s offense had hit a roadblock. Malcolm Delaney added 11 points, all of them in the first half to send Milano at the locker room with a 45 – 33 lead. He was named MVP of the Final Four.

Bologna fought back in the third quarter (8-18) to approach 53 – 51 until Punter once again pulled his team further. Julian Gamble had 12 points and eight rebounds and Awudu Abass 12 points.
