Olimpia Milano put on some excellent defense down the stretch to beat Virtus Bologna 73 – 68 on the road and remain the boss in the Italian League standings, improving to 11-1.

Kevin Punter scored 18 points for Milano, including a key 3-pointer for the 73 – 66. Shavon Shields and Zach LeDay added 16 points apiece. Kyle Hines dominated the boards to finish with 13 for the winning side.

Milos Teodosic (12 points, five rebounds), Julian Gamble (12 points) and Vince Hunter (10 points) stood out for Bologna. Marco Belinelli dropped nine points on 1/6 shots and 4/4 free throws in 16:53 minutes of his first European game since 2007.

Dinamo Sassari caught up with Bologna in the third spot in the standings by beating Brescia. Marco Spissu had 23 points and Miro Bilan 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side.

Vanoli Cremona handed second-placed Brindisi’s second loss in a row with Daulton Holmes scoring 20 points and TJ Williams.
