Luis Scola and Michele Ruzzier stepped up and lead Varese to a big road win over Olimpia Milano

Varese continued its winning streak in the Italian League with an upset on the road against Olimpia Milano with 83-81 on the scoreboard.

The win came in the final minute as Michele Ruzzier banked in a 2+1 to set the final score while Luigi Datome missed the shot on the other end to tie the game.

Ruzzier finished with 17 points but Luis Scola was the one leading the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. Toney Douglas scored 16.

For Milano, Kevin Punter, Zach LeDay and Sergio Rodriguez scored 14 points each followed by Datome with 11.

Milano stayed at the top of the standings with 18-5 but Happy Casa Brindisi is on the chase right behind with 17-5. Virtus Bologna holds a 17-7 record. Varese, after four straight wins, improved to 9-14 and is one step closer to the playoff zone.
