A brand new Italian league leader in Happy Casa Brindisi

Brindisi took down AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano, 80-71, on Sunday leapfrogging their opponent in the LBA Serie A standings.

Derek Willis posted a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Regular Season Round 26 tilt between the top two leading teams of the Italian league. Josh Bostic added 15 points. Sergio Rodriguez had a game-high 23 points in a losing effort.

Brindisi upped its LBA tally to 18-5 sending Milan down to 18-6 and second place. This was the third domestic league loss in a row for the team coached by Ettore Messina.

Virtus Bologna got to 17-7. Awudu Abass piled up 17 points and Josh Adams threw in 16 more points in the 81-67 victory against Trieste.

Earlier, Petteri Koponen hit eight three-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 points powering Reggio Emilia over Varese, 95-77.
