The 2021 Italian League Finals began with a bang of an upset.

Milos Teodosic scored 19 points and dished out nine assists as Virtus Bologna defeated first-seeded Olimpia Milano 83 – 77 on the road to take the 1-0 lead in the series.

Kyle Weems added 15 points for Bologna that led nearly from start to finish and went up even by 17 points, 42 – 59, in the third quarter. Milano made a comeback charge and approached to 70 – 72 in the mid of the fourth period but a 1 – 7 run by Bologna put the visiting side at a safe distance again, this time for good.

Zach LeDay (16 points, five rebounds) and Sergio Rodriguez (16 points) led Milano in scoring. Gigi Datome had 15 points and Kevin Punter 12.
