Trieste used a late surge to upset short-staffed Milano and force it to its first loss of the season in Italy

Trieste’s fourth-quarter rally helped them hold off Olimpia Milano with a 71-68 victory at home, to end the latter’s perfect streak in the Italian Legabasket after 12 games.

Trieste outscored their visitors 18-9 in the fourth period, after being down 59-53 after 30 minutes to improve to a 7-5 record in the standings. Adrian Banks posted 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the way for the winners, while Juan Manuel Fernandez and Fabio Mian both tapped 10 points.

Troy Daniels added 16 points for short-staffed Milan that lacked six players of its rotation. Ben Bentil had 12 points and 6 rebounds and Davide Alviti followed with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Virtus Bologna is now one win closer to Milano after the victory over Fortitudo Bologna in the local derby. Marco Belinelli scored 12 for the hosts.
