Croatian center Miro Bilan returned to Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari and D’Angelo Harrison rejoined Happy Casa Brindisi, as announced by the Italian teams. Both players started the 2021-22 season competing together for the Ukraine champion Prometey.

The Ukraine outfit was disbanded due to the ongoing war in Eastern Europe. Guided by head coach Ronen Ginzburg, Prometey made it from the Basketball Champions League Qualifiers to the Round of 16 and carried a 2-1 record in Group K after last week’s loss to U-BT Cluj Napoca. Before Russia’s invasion, the team was relocated to the Czech Republic and faced the Romania champions in Nymburk.

Bilan, 32, produced 10.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per BCL contest. He had spent the previous two seasons getting things done in the paint for Sassari. Other former teams include LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, SIG Strasbourg, Cedevita Olimpija, and Zadar.

Harrison, 28, averaged 16.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game before the Cinderella run abruptly ended. He was a member of Brindisi through the 2020-21 season. The former St. John’s standout had displayed his talents in Israel, France, Russia, Israel and Turkey, before landing in Italy.

Both Italian teams bringing back Bilan and Harrison were eliminated from the Champions League after finishing last in their respective Regular Season groups. Domestically, Sassari at 9-9 and Brindisi at 10-10 are in the midst of the battle for a berth in the LBA Serie A Playoffs.
