In a game full of absences for both teams, Virtus Bologna beat Olimpia Milano 72 – 64 in overtime to qualify for the 2022 Italian SuperCup Final. They will face Dinamo Sassari for the trophy.

Bologna opened the extra period with a 0 – 9 run through the first three and that was more than enough to give Sergio Scariolo’s team the win. Semi Ojeleye (17 points) scored four in a row and Iffe Lundberg delivered the dagger from beyond the arc for the 59 – 68 with 1:47 to play.

Milano was unable to respond and was eliminated. The Red Shoes had sent the game to overtime after trailing 53 – 58 with 14 seconds to play in regulation. Billy Baron hit a 3-pointer and, after a pair of free throws by Lundberg, he won a controversial shooting foul for three free throws. Scariolo protested that the foul was on the floor, and received a technical so Baron had four free throws and a chance to win it for Milano. He made the three.

Jordan Mickey contributed 13 points plus seven rebounds and Isaia Cordinier scored 12 for Virtus that lacked Toko Shengelia, Milos Teodosic, Mam Jaiteh and Awudu Abass.

For Milano, Devon Hall dropped 19 points and Baron finished with 12 points. Their team was without Kevin Pangos, Shavon Shields, Gigi Datome and Johannes Voigtmann.
