Pesaro prolongs series vs. Milano

Milano was 10 minutes away from closing the series vs. Pesaro but the latter’s survival insticnts took over.

Thanks to a strong last period, Pesaro beat Olimpia Milano 88 – 83  in Game 3 of the Italian League quarterfinals to remain alive in the series. Game 4 takes place in Pesaro again Saturday (20/5).

Pesaro scored 52 points in the second half and dominated the last period 27 – 17 to get the win after trailing for more than 30 minutes. With the score 70 – 71, the hosts made a 12-4 run to go up 82 – 74 with 2:23 to play and stayed ahead for the rest of the game.

Leandro Tote led a balanced Pesaro effort with 16 points plus five rebounds and Matteo Tambone had 13 points. Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rakhman scored all of his 10 points in the last quarter to make a difference for the winning side down the stretch, while also dishing out six assists overall. Vassilis Charalambopoulos added 10 points of his own.

Shabazz Napier and Nicolo Melli stood out from Milano with 24 and 14 points respectively.
