Bittersweet afternoon for the Italian teams of the Euroleague. Virtus got the win at home to stay on top, and Milano couldn’t complete the comeback on the road.
Armoni Brooks led Milano in scoring (15 points), but it wasn’t enough to secure the win on the road. It was a tough first half for Milan. Trento dominated from beyond the arc, but Poeta’s team reacted before the break (41-39).
The local team pushed back from the three-point range. Unable to keep up defensively, Milan lost away (84-74) and now has a record of 20-8, falling further behind the league leaders.
Virtus, for their part, demonstrated from the outset why they are the leaders of the Italian league. The Bologna team gave Varese no chance (104-85).
Derrick Alston (16 p.) and Alessandro Pajola (12) were the top scorers for Virtus. Olivier Nkamhoua scored 30 on the loss.
