Italy will have a new champion this season after Virtus Bologna failed to reach the Finals, leaving Olimpia Milano and Reyer Venice to battle for the Scudetto.
Milano opened the best-of-five championship series in dominant fashion, defeating Reyer Venice 100-80 in front of its fans at the Unipol Forum to take a 1-0 lead.
Ousmane Diop led the winners with 18 points on perfect 6-for-6 shooting from inside the arc, while Niccolò Mannion added 17 points and five assists. Shavon Shields finished with 13 points, Josh Nebo contributed 11 points and seven rebounds, and Leandro Bolmaro chipped in with nine points.
For Venice, Amedeo Tessitori paced the team with 24 points and five rebounds. R.J. Cole followed with 16 points, while Jordan Parks recorded 13 points and nine rebounds.
Milano took control of the game early, building a 24-15 lead after the opening quarter before stretching the advantage to 54-37 by halftime. Venice briefly cut into the deficit behind Tessitori and Cole in the third quarter, but the hosts quickly restored a comfortable cushion. Mannion and Diop orchestrated the offense throughout the second half, helping Olimpia reach the century mark and comfortably secure the opening game of the Finals series.
