Kelly Olynyk delivered the highest performance index rating in the Italian league since 2012, finishing with 53 in BC Roma’s overtime loss to Varese, according to figures published by the league.
The Canadian recorded 38 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, shooting 11-of-12 on two-pointers, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line. His rating was the highest since Gani Lawal registered 57 for Roma against Sassari in December 2012.
Olynyk’s performance was only the eighth in Serie A since 2000 to produce a rating of at least 53, joining a list featuring Petar Naumoski, Lawal, Sinisa Kelecevic, Marques Green, Romain Sato, Roberto Chiacig and DaShaun Wood.
He also became just the second player since the 1995–96 season to combine at least 38 points and 12 rebounds in an Italian league game, following Jordan Parks in 2022. Despite those historic numbers, Roma fell 110–103 after overtime.
