Cantu officially announced Rimas Kurtinaitis as the team’s new head coach

Cantu officially announced Rimas Kurtinaitis as the team’s new head coach for the next two years, confirming Eurohoops’ earlier reports about the deal.

The 56-year old Lithuanian coach spent the previous five seasons in Khimki Moscow which he led to two Eurocup titles (2012 and 2015) plus winning the VTB League championship in 2011. He has been named coach of the year in VTB for the 2013/2014 season.

“I’m really happy that one of the best coaches in Europe, which has won three Eurocup in his career, has accepted the proposal to lead our team”, said the president of Cantu, Dmitry Gerasimenko. “I am convinced that Kurtinaitis, with his experience and his winning mentality will help us in the next two seasons to bring Cantu at high levels both Italy and Europe. It ‘an important first step in this direction, but now we have to continue our efforts and to work hard to achieve this goal.”
