Sassari and Milano on the winning track

Olimpia Milano had another close contest while Dinamo Sassari had it easy this Sunday.

Achille Polonara led Dinamo Sassari to a blowout win over New Basket Brindisi at home with 90 – 66. The Italian got a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The hosts ended the first quarter in front 30 – 9 and kept the lead the entire game. Brindisi remains at the bottom of the standings with this result.

Early in the day, Olimpia Milano beat Reggia Emilia 72 – 71 on the road in a dramatic game. The guests received an 8-0 run and Emilia tied the game in the last minute. Curtis Jerrells scored just one free throw for Olimpia but it was more than enough to escape with the victory.

Arturas Gudaitis was the top scorer of the winners with 18 points and also grabbed 6 boards. Jerrells contributed with 16 points. Milano is tied in the second spot with Avellino and Venezia after its seventh win.

Cantu will try to break Brescia’s undefeated record tomorrow to close the ninth week in Italy.
