Milano survives Venezia’s comeback to remain undefeated

Although it seemed like an easy job early, Venezia bounced back and Milano just barely came out on top in the last minute of the game.

Despite missing Nemanja Nedovic and Amedeo Della Valle, Olimpia Milano was heavily ahead and then managed to survive Umana Reyer Venezia’s comeback effort for a narrow 84-81 road win on Day 7 of Italian League.

It was a tie at 81 but Vladimir Micov put Milano ahead two points with 30 seconds left. In the following offense, Venezia had two chances but both MarQuez Haynes and Andrea De Nicolao missed their shots and the guests secured the game from the free throw line.

Mike James led the winners with 20 points (4/7 triples) while Dairis Bertans scored 14 in addition to Vladimir Micov’s 12 points. on the other side, Mitchell Watt notched game-high 24 while Stefano Tonut added 15 points.

Milano had a furious start leading 31-11 after ten minutes but Venezia came closer before halftime (44-34). They kept coming closer and eventually made it a tie at 60 in front of the final period. The game stayed balanced and got decided in the last minute as Milano came out victorious.

Both teams were undefeated before this game but now Milano holds the top with 7-0 while Venezia is right behind with a 6-1 record.
