Fortitudo Bologna defeated Ferrara, 91-79, on Sunday and mathematically secured first place in the eastern division of Italy’s Serie A2. Antimo Martino’s side improved to 24-3 clinching promotion to LBA Serie A ahead of the 2019-20 campaign with first place.
Decades after the club’s glory days which included two Italian Championships, Fortitudo is now set to return to top-tier Italian basketball. Starting from the fourth-tier league in 2009, the team worked its way back up the ladder to ultimately achieve its goal.
