Shane Larkin via Twitter refuted the report from Turkish news website T24 that he will compete with the Turkey’s national team under the name DeShane Davis Karkin. Bobby Dixon actually underwent a similar change back in 2015 and competed for Turkey’s national team under the name of Ali Muhammed.

The prolific Anadolu Efes point guard recently received Turkish citizenship and is eligible to play for the country’s national team as the naturalized member of the squad. He was also presented with Turkey’s jersey by president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Larkin is expected to travel to Canada this summer for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament hosted at Vitoria. Turkey will face Uruguay and Czech Republic in the first round. Greece, China and Canada are potential opponents in the final round.
