Orhun Ene has reached a principal agreement with the Turkish Basketball Federation to become the new head coach of the Turkish national team, TBF announced. He is expected to officially sign a contract on Monday (23/11).
Ene is succeeding Ufuk Sarica whose contract with the Federation was terminated Friday. Sarica and the Federation had disagreements, including one regarding who between Scottie Wilbekin and Shane Larkin will be the naturalized player of the national team.
Turkey will be hosting the upcoming EuroBasket Qualifiers for Group D in Istanbul. They will face Croatia and The Netherlands on November 27 and 29 respectively.
