After Marco Belinelli, Olimpia Milano star Gigi Datome is expected to sit out of the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Serbia, as reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport’s Vincenzo Di Schiavi (adapted by realolimpiamilano.com).

Datome comes from an exhausting season of 90 games with Olimpia Milano and has suffered a bursitis in his right elbow according to the report, so he needs to use this time to rest and recover.

This is another blow for the Italian national team, as they may also lack Danilo Gallinari, who still competes with the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Philadelphia 76ers (series tied 2-2).

Italy is set to compete for an Olympic Games berth at Belgrade from June 29 to July 4. Host Serbia, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Senegal have the same goal.
