Sergio Rodriguez retired from the Spanish national team on Wednesday. He announced his decision via a post shared through social media platforms.

Rodriguez, 35, most recently represented his country in the 2020 Tokyo Games. He logged 9.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per appearance.

His debut with the senior national team dates back to 2005 after leading the U18 squad to gold in the 2004 U18 European Championship. Silver in the 2012 Olympics and bronze in 2016 highlight his long run at the senior level. He also captured gold in the 2006 FIBA World Cup, gold in the 2015 EuroBasket, silver in the 2007 EuroBasket, and bronze in the 2013 and 2017 editions of EuroBasket.

Pau and Marc Gasol, longtime teammates of Rodriguez, also decided to retire from the national team after the Olympic Games.
