Following the departure of Mike Taylor from the Polish national team, Igor Milicic has been confirmed as the new head coach of the selection.

Taylor stepped down from the selection after seven years and a quarterfinals presence at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

Milicic will combine his head coach role in Arged BM Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski with the national selection ahead of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers window in November.

Poland faces Germany, Israel and Estonia in Group D of the European qualifiers in the three windows spreading from November 2021 to June 2022.

The position of the national team coach is the dream of every athlete, and later a coach. I am lucky that I got such a chance. I will do my best to keep Polish basketball moving forward, not only in the upcoming games, but also in the future. The team is to fight from the first minute to the last with great energy on both sides of the floor,” said Milicic in a press conference as adapted by fiba.basketball.
