Spanish NT cuts roster to 14 players

14 players are now included on the roster of the Spanish national team.

The Spanish Basketball Federation announced that guard Quino Colom and center Yankuba Sima are the latest cuts from the national team roster ahead of the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers and the 2022 EuroBasket that follows.

“I want to thank Quino Colom and Yankuba Sima for the work they’ve put up,” Spain coach Sergio Scariolo said. “I wish them the best of luck in joining their clubs.”

Scariolo now has 14 players available: Darío Brizuela, Lorenzo Brown, Rudy Fernández, Jaime Fernández, Usman Garuba, Fran Guerra, Willy Hernangómez, Juancho Hernangómez, Sergio Llull, Xabi López-Arostegui , Juan Núñez, Joel Parra, Jaime Pradilla and Sebas Saiz.

On Wednesday (24/8), Spain will face Iceland in Pamplona without Xabi López-Arostegui and Joel Parra and then play against the Netherlands in Almere Saturday (27/8). The EuroBasket will tip off on September 1st.

Spain will compete in Group A, together with Montenegro, Turkey, Georgia, Belgium, and Bulgaria. The first four teams will advance to the Round of 16 where the knockout stage will commence.
