Ricky Rubio may return to the Spanish national team this February.

Rubio is included on the list of 14 players that Spain head coach Sergio Scariolo summoned ahead of the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers (22, 25 February).

The full list is as follows: Carlos Alocén (Real Madrid), Alberto Díaz (Unicaja), Jaime Fernández (Lenovo Tenerife), Ricky Rubio (Barça), Alberto Abalde (Real Madrid), Darío Brizuela (Barça), Xabi López-Arostegui (Valencia), Rudy Fernández (Real Madrid), Joel Parra (Barça), Víctor Claver (Valencia), Juancho Hernangómez (Panathinaikos), Jaime Pradilla (Valencia), Sebas Saiz (Tokyo)  and Yankuba Sima (Unicaja).

Rubio, who signed with Barcelona on February 6, could be making his much-expected basketball comeback with Spain in home territory: the Qualifiers opener against Latvia in Zaragoza on 22/2. It seems like an ideal scenario for the veteran Spanish guard to return to action after announcing that he’s taking a hiatus to focus on his mental health back in the summer.

Three days after facing Latvia, Spain will play vs. Belgium in Charleroi.

The last time Rubio played for the Spanish national team was in the 2021 Olympic Games, averaging 25.5 points, 6.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds. He was forced to miss the 2022 EuroBasket as he was recovering from a torn ACL injury.
