Coach  Lyubomir Minchev announced the 16 players who compile the preliminary squad of the Bulgarian national team.

The indubitable protagonists in this squad are Barcelona forward Sasa Vezenkov who will most likely assume leadership duties and Darius Adams, who starred in last season’s Euroleague, helping Laboral Kutxa reach the Final Four.

Of course, the participation of the latter in the qualification games for Eurobasket 2017 is not granted, since another naturalized player, center Jason Washburn is included in the preliminary squad. According to the rules, only one of them can be part of the final 12-men Bulgarian team.

As Minchev previously stated, the decision will be based on whom between Adams and Washburn better suits the needs of the team.

Here is the complete list of players:

Darius Adams, Dimitar Dimitrov, Velislav Galabov, Aleksandar Georgiev, Pavlin Ivanov, Chavdar Kostov, Ivan Lilov, Stanimir Marinov, Chris Minkov, Aleks Simeonov, Nikolay Stoyanov, Stanislav Vaklinov, Asen Velikov, Alexander Vezenkov, Jason Washburn, Hristo Zahariev.
