The Milwaukee Bucks held their NBA Media Day (30/9) and among other things, Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked about his stint with the Greek national team in the FIBA World Cup. Although disappointed with the outcome, the reigning NBA MVP noted that he and Greece are not done yet and will come back stronger:

“It was great playing for Greece and representing my country. Obviously, the outcome wasn’t the one we were expecting, we weren’t able to get to Top 8 or to the Olympics but we’ll have another chance to do that. We had a great team, but I think one game cost us the qualification. I’m not really disappointed about it. I’m mad and pissed but everything happens for a reason. You try to take good or bad, the experience from every competition you play and try to be better. So that when you’re on the same stage again, you know how to handle it. The Greek national team… we’re not done yet.”

He also made a joke about his foul problems during the World Cup: “I fouled out in… how many was it? I think three out of five games. You guys won’t see that here with the Bucks. I’m gonna try to stay in the game,” he said through a smile.

Giannis will also have to make a decision about his contract with the Bucks which expires in 2021: “It’s not time to think about it. When the time comes, we will sit down and discuss. I think it’s disrespectful to my teammates to talk about free agency and what I’ll do. “
