CSKA Moscow’s Daniel Hackett will no longer play for Italy in FIBA competitions, the 31-year-old guard revealed in an interview with EuroDevotion and later confirmed via post on Instagram. “Thank you all” he wrote, “Proud of wearing this jersey.”
Commenting on his decision, Hackett noted that is time for the younger generation to take over the Azzurri. His last outing came in China and the 2019 FIBA World Cup, previously competed in various EuroBasket tournaments and in the 2016 Olympic qualifiers, but will not be present for the qualifiers ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games.
