Luka Doncic scored 36 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out nine assists in against the Los Angeles Clippers but it wasn’t enough for the Dallas Mavericks. The Clippers won 110 – 107 behind 36 points and 11 rebounds by Kawhi Leonard.

24 out of 36 of Doncic’s points arrived in the second half. The Mavericks came back from a 14-point deficit, 65 – 51, to take a 90 – 92 and then 94 – 96 lead following points by the Slovenian player. Leonard scored a key 3-pointer for the 108 – 103 with 1:03 remaining and then hit a pair of free throws that made it 110 – 105 and sealed the win for his team.

Ivica Zubac posted nine points and nine rebounds in 19 minutes for the Clippers. The Croatian big man was a starter once again.

For the Mavericks, Boban Marjanovic dropped 12 points and got seven rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench. Kristaps Porzingis had 10 points (4/17 shots) plus nine rebounds and Maxi Kleber eight points and five boards.

The loss was the least of the Mavericks’ worries since the team saw center Dwight Powell suffering what appeared to be a season-ending injury on his Achilles tendon.
