The Utah Jazz are laying off non-basketball members of the organization and are reducing the compensation of other employees, per reports of ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Jazz are the first NBA team to make layoffs, but more teams are considering the possibility, according to the report, given the fact that the NBA has been suspended since March 11, and there is no solution reached as to how the season can be concluded.

“Due to the impact on our customer-facing businesses from this unprecedented pandemic, the (Miller Group) … unfortunately had to make difficult decisions to reduce a small percentage of our workforce. Over the past several weeks, we have worked to manage and reduce costs, including executive compensation, and have reached a point where we have had to say farewell to a limited number of our valued employees”, a statement released Friday by Larry H. Miller Group reads.
