While the timing of a possible NBA relaunch remains uncertain amid the coronavirus pandemic, USA president Donald Trump looks to a resumption of sports activities in the country by the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.

According to ESPN, in a conference call with commissioners of major leagues, Trump said that he hopes that fans will return to stadiums and arenas by August and September. He specifically mentioned that he believes that the NFL season shall begin in September.

The NBA was suspended on March 11, right after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for coronavirus. During the conference call with Trump, Adam Silver mentioned that the NBA, along with the rest of the leagues, are looking forward to helping start the US economy once public health officials greenlight that playing shall begin again.

In the press briefing following the conference call, Trump commented: “They want to get back. They gotta get back. They can’t do this. Their sports weren’t designed for it. The whole concept of our nation wasn’t designed for it. We’re gonna have to get back. We wanna get back soon.”
