The Antetokounmpo family donated 20,000 protective masks to the municipality of the city of Athens, Greece, in which they grew up in the Sepolia neighborhood and to the municipality of Zografou, an Athenian suburb.

Filathlitikos, the first team of Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, is based in Zografou.

“I’d like to thanks the Antetokounmpo brothers for their generous donation that becomes even greater since it takes place in difficult times for the whole planet. With their donation, they confirm that they don’t forget our city and, as we’ve announced, when the coronavirus nightmare has gone, the Municipality of Zografou will honor Giannis and his brothers appropriately,” Zografou Mayor Vassilis Thodas stated.

The masks will be distributed to the workers of the municipality and citizens who belong to groups that are most susceptible to the coronavirus.

Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo played for the senior team of Filathlitikos in 2012-2013 after spending some years with the organization’s youth squads. Their younger brothers, Kostas and Alex, were also players of the Filathlitikos youth squads.

The gym of Filathlitikos was renamed to AntetokounBros Municipal Gymnasium in 2019.
