The 2019-20 NBA season remains suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, but from the safety of their homes, eight players participated in the first round of the H-O-R-S-E tournament set up by the NBA. Sunday’s quarterfinals produced intriguing results.

Competition favorite Trae Young was eliminated by Chauncey Billups. Also, Chris Paul was taken out by Allie Quigley. Active NBA stars Mike Conley and Zach LaVine managed to advance to the semifinals beating Tamika Catchings and Paul Pierce, respectively.

A coin toss determined who will shoot first. Players then described their attempt. Every miss added a letter. As per traditional rules, the first to spell H-O-R-S-E was out.

The tournament is raising money for the coronavirus COVID-19 relief efforts, will resume on Thursday with the semifinals and the finals.
