NBA and NBPA have agreed on the withholding of 25 percent of each player paycheck beginning on May 15, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal gives a gradual reduction in salary should Force Majeure provision get enacted with the cancellation of regular-season games. Checks on May 1 will be paid in full.
The agreement could also speed up the discussions regarding the salary cap in the following seasons. The cap is calculated via a formula that includes league revenues and the coronavirus outbreak has already significantly impacted it.
There is currently no timetable nor guarantee that the 2019-20 season will resume and commissioner Adam Silver noted that no decision regarding that will be taken before May.
