Nikola Vucevic went through a long stretch without any basketball action, but since started shooting with a helping hand from his neighbor in Orlando. The Orlando Magic center described via telephone his unique situation to the New York Times.

“It was so much fun because I haven’t done it in a while,” he mentioned on his neighbor allowing him to use the outdoor hoop he only recently installed, “You obviously miss it, but until you actually do it again, you don’t realize how much. It’s kind of like when I was little and I would just go in front of my house and just play for hours. It reminds me of that.”

His neighbor will likely be seeing more of him as the Magic are not among the teams opting to reopen their facilities for volunteer workouts, according to the earliest date possible implemented by the NBA. However, are planning on establishing a firm date.

“The Orlando Magic’s foremost priority remains everyone’s health and well-being connected to the game and we will continue to follow the NBA’s guidelines while also continuing to listen to public health experts and observe local governmental directives,” the organization noted in a statement.

Up to March 11 and the decision to halt the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Magic ranked 8th in the Eastern Conference sporting a 30-35 W-L record. Vucevic averaged 19.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per contest over 54 appearances.
