The 2020 NBA draft will be held on October 16 with early entrants allowed to withdraw until August 17, Adrian Wojnarowski reports and multiple outlets confirm. Youngsters previously opting to withdraw can revisit those decisions according to the new deadline set.

A few days after the annual draft, free agency will open on October 18 with a four-day moratorium period up to noon October 23, pending NBPA approval, NBA teams were also told on Saturday.

Game 7 of the NBA finals could take place on October 13 setting up a series of eventful days for the NBA.

In addition to the flurry of moves expected in October, teams will be allowed to replace players who elect to sit out or are prevented from playing due to health reasons from July 1 until the end of the modified regular season on August 14.

The above fit in the plan to resume the 2019-20 season suspended on March 11, in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Twenty-two teams will play eight additional regular season contests in Orlando with 16 moving on the playoffs.
