While Frank Ntilikina has yet to establish himself as an important part of the New York Knicks after three years in the NBA there’s faith within the team that this will change.

In a Q&A mailbag, New York Post’s Marc Berman said that the sense is that Knicks president Leon Rose wants to transform Ntilikina “into a valuable piece.” Berman also hinted that if Knicks head coach candidate Tom Thibodeau gets the job, Ntilikina’s role may be upgraded.

In April, SNY’s Ian Begley reported that Rose is unlikely to shop Ntilikina.

Ntilikina was selected by the Knicks with the overall eighth pick in the 2017 Draft but hasn’t reached the expectations New York had from him when they got him. In 2019-2020, the French guard averaged 6.0 points, 3.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 20.8 minutes over 57 games before the season shut down in March.
