The Milwaukee Bucks took the decision to boycott Game 5 of their first-round series vs. the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, and a short time later the NBA officially postponed all playoffs games scheduled for the day. Following this turn of events, both the players and the league are trying to figure out how the rest of the season can play out.
The NBA’s board of governors will meet Thursday, and players are also expected to meet on their own, as both sides continue to discuss how to proceed with the NBA playoffs, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews.
In the wake of the Kenosha shooting, where 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot seven times by police, the Bucks‘ Sterling Brown read a statement on behalf of the team, following the team’s boycott that led to the postponed gameday and a meeting was immediately held after that. While some in the meeting wanted to know why the Bucks made the decision without consulting any of the other teams inside the bubble, Boston Celtics‘ forward Jaylen Brown supported their decision and stated it wasn’t nessessary, per ESPN.
As further reported, it’s also unlikely that games planned for Thursday will take place as scheduled.
