Kyle Lowry scored 33 points including a tough, contested fadeaway jumper with 12 seconds to play to lead the Toronto Raptors to the 125 – 122 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals. One of the most exciting games of 2019-2020 overall.
Lowry had previously assisted OG Anunoby who hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with Boston up 117 – 115 and less than a minute remaining. In the next play, Norman Powell stole the ball from Jayson Tatum and ran in the transition to make the 3-point play by hitting the layup while fouled by Marcus Smart.
“Thank you, Norm. That was cool. We needed that,” Lowry, who also had eight rebounds and six assists, said.
Tatum scored the Celtics‘ next five points and with five seconds left Powell hit two free throws for the 125 – 122. Smart missed in his game-tying attempt for the series to head into a Game 7.
“We’ll look at what we can clean up,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. “Throw some ice on your legs and get ready for Friday.” Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 31 points and six rebounds while Tatum had 29 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. Daniel Theis scored a playoffs-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
For the Raptors, Powell finished with 23 points and Fred Van Vleet with 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Serge Ibaka, who was listed as questionable before the game, had 13 points in 21 minutes off the bench and Marc Gasol scored eight.
