The Philadelphia 76ers are finalizing a deal to name Daryl Morey as the new president, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He will ink a five-year contract, adds Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Morey, 48, departed from the Houston Rockets after 13 years as the GM. His arrival will not impact current Sixers GM Elton Brand, as he is expected to retain his role.

Morey will also join forces with recently-hired head coach Doc Rivers.

Sam Hinkie worked under Morey at Houston before assuming the GM role at the Philadelphia organization in 2012 and starting the “process”. Both promoted the use of advanced statistics changing the NBA landscape but Hinkie only lasted until 2016.
