December 22 is now “locked” as the start of the 2020-21 NBA season.

It’s now official. The 2020-21 NBA will begin on December 22 and the regular season will include 72 games, following the approval of the new modifications by the Board of Governors.

Per NBA:

The NBA Board of Governors today unanimously approved adjustments to certain provisions of the current collective bargaining agreement impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020-21 season will begin Tuesday, Dec. 22.

The NBA continues to negotiate with the National Basketball Associationonother aspects of the 2020-21 season.

The NBA also officially confirmed the dates for the NBA Draft (November 18) and free agency negotiations launch (November 20). Players will be able to sign contracts with teams beginning on Sunday, November 22 12:01 pm. ET.
