Marc Gasol talked about the upcoming NBA free agency as well as what his brother Pau has got in plans for the future

The three-time All-Star and the 2019 NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors in Marc Gasol will be available for grabs when the free agency hits on November 20 and there will be a number of interested teams.

“Official contacts begin next Friday. I know there is interest from various NBA teams, but until we sit down and talk, we won’t know what will happen,” he told Esport 3.

Marc acknowledged that going to a team with the chance to win a ring “is always one of the priorities” but also admitted that he doesn’t see himself playing in a rebuilding team: “It would not make sense for them or for me. I don’t think I am prepared that, in two months, I will have lost many games and not having a good time. I really enjoy helping to win consistently and always trying to aspire to the title.”

Marc and his brother Pau have been the only set of brothers to win an NBA championship and the latter (and older) one has been recovering from injury, looking for a place to bring his career to an end.

“Pau is recovering, working practically every day to be physically well. First, he has to be physically well and then we will see what’s up. We cannot anticipate events,” Marc noted.

Pau’s main goal seems to be to reach the Olympics with Spain and many expect him to retire after that (as will most likely be the case with another European great in center Luis Scola) but Marc believes it doesn’t have to be true necessarily.

“Why not continue? If your health allows it, and at a mental and family level you can also afford it… In the end, each one decides how to take their career and when to finish it.”
