Mario Hezonja will stay in the NBA for the upcoming season, after picking up his option with the Portland Trail Blazers, per Michael Scotto’s report. Hezonha will get almost $2 million for the 2020-21 season.

Hailed as a top European talent of his generation, the 25 years old Hezonja was the 5ht pick of 2015 by the Orlando Magic, leaving FC Barcelona in the same summer for the other side of the Atlantic.

He has also played for the Knicks and the Blazers and despite flashes of talent, he has not established himself yet in the NBA. He signed a two-year contract with the Blazers in the summer of 2019 and he will have one more chance to prove that he belongs in the league.

So far he is averaging 6.9 ppg and 3.1 rebounds in 330 career games. This year he appeared for the first time in the playoffs and in five games with the Blazers he averaged 4.6 ppg.
