Eight-time NBA champion and Boston Celtics legend K.C. Jones has passed away at the age of 88.
Jones played in the NBA for nine seasons, all with the Celtics, and won eight titles—the third-most in the history of the league, behind only longtime teammates Bill Russell (11) and Sam Jones (10). His success continued to his coaching days, when he won three titles in the 1980s with the Celtics, before moving to the Seattle Supersonics in 1989, first as an assistant, then as a head coach. He is the only African-American coach other than Russell to win multiple NBA championships.
Jones had also won the gold medal with the US National Team at the 1956 Olympic Games of Melbourne and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1989.
