Nearly four years removed from his last appearance in the NBA, Jared Sullinger reaffirms himself eyeing a comeback. He talked to Ben Stinar of Forbes about being in great shape and waiting for an opportunity to knock on his door.

“I’m definitely trying to get back to the NBA,” he mentioned confirming his current status, “I feel like I’ve still got a lot of basketball left, I can help a team, I feel like me being not the biggest guy but still strong enough to guard a five and be able to stretch the floor, I’m in better shape.”

Sullinger, 28, coming out of Ohio State was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 21st pick of the 2012 draft. He went on to participate in 268 NBA matches with the Celtics and added 11 more games with the Toronto Raptors in the first half of the 2016-17 season. Despite back and foot injuries, he dominated China’s CBA averaging 29.5 points and 15.7 rebounds per contest with the Shenzhen Leopards the next couple of seasons.

“I’m just looking for somebody to give me an opportunity,” he said regarding searching for a way back to the NBA, “If I get the opportunity, I promise I will seize the moment at that moment.”
